Parts of New Jersey saw landslides and flash flooding as severe storms swept throughout the Garden State on Sunday.

The extreme weather prompted Gov. Phil Murphy to declare a state of emergency.

Motorists found many detours and road closures throughout the day as the torrential downpours caused flooding and roads to buckle.

A landslide happened near railroad tracks along the Delaware River in Warren County.

Route 46 was closed and detoured in both directions as of Sunday night due to the severe rain.

The county also reported that all transportation services for Monday were canceled, including the Route 57 shuttle service.

Creeks in some areas also overflowed, causing water to spill onto the sides of the road.

A News 12 New Jersey crew observed JCP&L crews working into the night to restore power to impacted residents.

Sunday's extreme weather is expected to have an impact on the Monday morning commute.
